William Boyd was born in Riccarton, Ayrshire on 18 March 1874 , the son of David Boyd, a journeyman pattern-maker and Janet Smith, a farmer's daughter and servant maid. These are Economic History lecture notes, possibly a lecturer's own notes. There are 6 notebooks within a slipcase. On the slipcase is written in pencil "Dr James Cunnison? Alec Macfie?" The identification of the author of these notes is not certain. There is one letter within volume 6 addressed to Dr Cunnison, but without a comparison of handwriting it has not possible to assign these notes to Dr Cunnison. References within the notes would indicate that they were written after 1924. ...

Agnes Duncan Gray was born in Newmains, Lanarkshire, on 20 November 1894 . Her father, James Duncan Gray, was a clerk. She attended the University of Glasgow from 1913-1916 , taking classes in Latin and French in her first year; German, Logic and Geography in her second; and English (Higher) and French in her third and final year.
